Ever happened to you?
You are invited to a pot luck party. You think that this is the chance to show to the world how awesome cook you are. You can create magic and can make the most delicious dessert.
But then some thing goes wrong and it hits you! You realize that every one will be eating what you cook and then they will have comments about your cooking. It makes you nervous, your hands go numb and you start to panic. In an attempt to put your best foot forward you over do things, while trying to create magic you end up creating a disaster (rememer those science labs in high school?). So now what you have is overcooked, some what burnt dish which tastes like crap (figuratively speaking, not that I know how it will taste).
After debating for a long time about should you take it or not for the pot luck you decide to take it, simply because its not some thing that people ever had before and what the heck do they know how it should taste like.
Now, you are at potluck with your dessert, you realize that there are few people in there that DO know how it should taste like.
But still you are confident!!!
Why, because you still can rely on the basic courtesy of peoples :) You know they will never say that it tastes like crap on your face! They will feel like throwing up, but will have a smile on their face and will say that it tastes so great!
You know no one will say that is sucks on your face, but the Courteousy coefficients of people vary, here are some comments that I have recieved so far:
- its nice
- its awesome (some guy who never ate that thing, hehahaha)
- its delicious
- its exotic (now, this is a deplomatic response, that guy know food sucks and is letting you know in his/her own way)
- this is the best dessert I ever had, smell that smell!!!! Can you pass me the recepie? (now this guy has NO IDEA what he/she is eating).
It has happened to me (and will happen in very very near future again!) and I am quite sure that it happened to you as well!
